All of us have different ways of studying and if you're like me, you have different study methods for different subjects. Let's explore some of my methods: Flash cards Honestly, my favourite study method. Excellent for writing down definitions and summarising a chapter. Thanks to Flash cards, I got 96% on my first Biology and Chemistry test. Small enough to keep in your pocket and pull them out while you're waiting for class to start. Highly recommend if you want to get A's.

Reading and Talking out loud There's no other way that I can learn my English poems, Shakespeare quotes or study for my Irish oral exam. It saves you time and gives your hand a break from writing. Also you can record yourself on your phone and listen whenever you have a spare minute. I'd recommend this method if you're an aural learner.

Whiteboard Writing This one I haven't heard anyone else do. Whenever I have an essay to remember, especially in a different language, like Irish, this is my go to. You won't be wasting paper and let's be real, whiteboards are fun! Just get yourself a small whiteboard, (not permanent) markers, something to wipe it off and ta - da! I like to copy an essay the first time I write it and then I test myself twice. Always works for me and not just for essays. I recommend if you learn by hand (i. e, you need to write things out to learn).

Exam Questions Don't know about you but that's the only that works for me in numerical subjects, maths and accounting. There isn't much theory so practice makes perfect. This method is good for any subject tbh. Do a few (preferably hard) questions and your revision is done! Make sure to check the marking scheme and correct mistakes. I recommend this method to prepare yourself for exams, to become familiar with the layout and wording.

Kahoot Who hasn't played Kahoot in an Irish secondary school? Kahoot is a quizz game that has just about any topic. Want a quick way to revise King Lear quotes? Want to make Accounting theory learning more fun? Wanna test your knowledge of linear inequalities? Anything you can think of, can pretty much be found on Kahoot. I recommend it to people who won't get easily distracted on their phone. P. S Remember, it's a quizz, it shouldn't be your main study method.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.mobitroll.kahoot.android&hl=en_IE&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dkahoot&pcampaignid=APPU_1_J0w8X_DHMIGl1fAP2umHgAw

Class Study Sesh This one was invented rather spontaneously, when my whole Chemistry class (which consisted of a whoaping 6 students) wasn't ready for a definition test. What did we do, you ask? We went into teams of 2, the teacher asked us a question and the team with the right answer got a point. My team obviously won 😉. I recommend this if you have a teacher that will let you do this in class, it's revision after all...

YouTube Are you finding it hard to understand a complex Chemistry concept? Are you looking down at your Maths copy, unaware of what to do? Are you unsure of how mitosis happens and need a visual? Seriously, especially during the lock down, YouTube has educated me more than my teachers. I recommend it if you're finding something difficult and a teacher isn't helping much (we all have those teachers that can't explain things). Good if you're a visual and aural learner.

Drawing The amount of diagrams that needs to be remembered for Biology and Chemistry (and other subjects) is unbelievable! 😱 The best way that I learn them is by drawing them, labelling and blu tacking (especially the harder ones) around my study space. You can look at them each time that you have a spare minute or two. I recommend it if you're struggling to remember diagrams.

Sticky notes Similar to the previous one, but not diagrams. If you're like me and you tend to forget what all the weird symbols in maths mean, or you keep forgetting the meaning of a certain Irish word or other small thing, write it on a sticky note! Stick it somewhere that you spend a lot of time and glance over them a little every now and then. I recommend colour coding the different sticky notes according to their subjects (green s. n for Biology, blue for Maths, etc)

Make up silly rhymes Yes, you've read that correctly. If you need to remember something long and difficult, like the layout of an account, use the first letter of each section to make up a silly rhyme or saying. It might sound ridiculous, but it works! If you had a surprise test today and you weren't prepared, I guarantee you that you'll remember your silly rhyme! It's funny how the brain loves to remember weird stuff! Example to remember the planets : My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Us Nine Planets = Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto. I have learned that rhyme nearly ten years ago and I haven't forgot it! I recommend you write down your rhyme somewhere (like a sticky note) so just in case you can't recall it.

Final Words These are the methods that work for me, as you have probably noticed I'm a visual learner but if you aren't that okay! We're all different and I hope that you learned something from my list. If you have a great study method that work let me know!
